Maine East lost a close one when they played last Friday but unfortunately for them the loss they were handed on Friday was a bit more commanding. They lost 36-12 to the Vernon Hills Cougars. The Blue Demons haven't had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Maine East wouldn't let Vernon Hills keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force three fumbles. It was truly a group effort as Michael Adam, Okiki Olurotimi, and Olurotimi picked up one apiece. Olurotimi is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made eight or more in the last five games he's played dating back to last season.
Giuseppe Urso continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Vernon Hills, rushing for 173 yards and two touchdowns. The dominant performance gave Urso a new career-high in rushing yards.
Maine East now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Vernon Hills, the win snapped their losing streak at five games dating back to last season and leaves them with a 1-4 record.
