Basketball Recap: Ragsdale Falls Despite Big Games from Aaliya Boddie and Brooke Parker

After flying high against R.J. Reynolds last Wednesday, Ragsdale came back down to earth. The Ragsdale Tigers fell 60-49 to the Northern Guilford Nighthawks on Friday. The Tigers haven't had much luck with the Nighthawks recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.

Ragsdale's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Brooke Parker, who posted 18 points, and Aaliya Boddie, who put up 15 points. The game was Parker's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jamaya Boddie, who earned seven points.

Northern Guilford found their leader in sophomore Leena McField, who dropped a double-double on 34 points and ten boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which McField has scored at least a third of Northern Guilford's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cara Trippett, who had 15 points and three steals.

Ragsdale's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-1. As for Northern Guilford, they pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season.

Ragsdale wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 45-28 loss against Page on the 10th. As for Northern Guilford, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 72-45 win against Southeast Guilford on the 10th.
