Basketball Recap: Willy Mueller's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Liberty Christian Academy over Missouri Military Academy

Liberty Christian Academy was the 55-49 winner over Missouri Military Academy when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Liberty Christian Academy Eagles lost 73-47 to the Missouri Military Academy Fighting Colonels on Monday. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Willy Mueller, who went 6 of 8 on his way to 13 points in addition to six boards and five blocks. Mueller has become a key player for Liberty Christian Academy: the team is 6-2 when he posts at least three blocks, but 3-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Tommy Meyer, who went 6 for 11 en route to 13 points and four blocks.

Missouri Military Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Noah Trimmer out in front who went 9 of 16 on his way to 24 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mateo Eaton Villareal, who went 6 for 7 en route to 16 points and seven rebounds.

Liberty Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Missouri Military Academy, their victory ended an eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-5.

Liberty Christian Academy will challenge Lighthouse Prep Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Liberty Christian Academy is facing Lighthouse Prep Academy at the right time seeing as Lighthouse Prep Academy is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. Missouri Military Academy has already played their next matchup, a 71-55 win against Columbia Independent on the 14th.
