Basketball Recap: Southwestern Comes Up Short

Southwestern lost against Notre Dame Academy back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Southwestern Warriors lost 54-29 to the Notre Dame Academy Pandas. The match marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the loss, Southwestern saw an underclassman step up: freshman Mckaila Monroe posted eight points in addition to six boards and four steals. Those four steals set a new season-high mark for Monroe.

Southwestern now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Notre Dame Academy, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

When Southwestern and Notre Dame Academy next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Southwestern will try to stop Montgomery County's three-game winning streak when the meet at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Southwestern is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.8 points per game this season. Similarly, Notre Dame Academy will try to stop Dixie Heights' three-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
