Plano East is 2-8 against Plano West since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. It'll be Eastside v. Westside when Plano East and Plano West meet at 7:15 p.m. One thing working in Plano East's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last five matches.
Plano East is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Princeton on Saturday as Plano East made off with a 25-4 victory. Plano East might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Julia Wilson, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, eight RBI, and three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. Jadyn Dawson was another key player, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two RBI.
Plano East hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in 11 consecutive games.
Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, Plano West's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of McKinney Boyd by a score of 6-5.
Marlee Flanigan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits. Those hits were her first of the season.
At the plate, Isabella Dunn made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with three RBI and one triple. That triple marked the first that she hit this season. Another player making a difference was Andrea Carrillo, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Plano East is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. Plano West's loss dropped their record down to 11-7.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Plano East hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .359. However, it's not like Plano West struggles in that department as they've averaged .318. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Plano East might still be hurting after the 8-0 defeat they got from Plano West when the teams last played back in February. Will Plano East have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
