Baseball Game Preview: Phoenix Christian Cougars vs. Madison Highland Prep Heat

The Phoenix Christian Cougars are taking a road trip to take on the Madison Highland Prep Heat at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Phoenix Christian has three straight wins, Madison Highland Prep has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Phoenix Christian took a 15-run loss the last time they faced off against Scottsdale Christian Academy, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Phoenix Christian came out on top in a nail-biter against Scottsdale Christian Academy on Monday, sneaking past 5-4. The five-run effort marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Kevin Palafox was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024.

Phoenix Christian hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in eight consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Madison Highland Prep came up short against Camp Verde on Monday and fell 6-2.

Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Madison Highland Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
