Soccer Game Preview: Mona Shores vs. Byron Center

The Mona Shores Sailors will venture away from home to face off against the Byron Center Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Mona Shores is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Caledonia just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Tuesday. Neither they nor the Fighting Scots could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 1-1 draw. The result (or lack thereof) marked Mona Shores' first draw of the season.

Meanwhile, Byron Center had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 goals) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Wildcats an 8-0 shutout. Give Byron Center's defense some credit: that's the team's fourth straight shutout.

Byron Center's victory bumped their record up to 7-1-3. Mona Shores' draw gives them a new season record of 5-2-1.

Mona Shores might still be hurting after the 6-1 defeat they got from Byron Center in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Sailors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
