Soccer Recap: Norwalk Victorious

It may have taken extra minutes to finish the job, but Norwalk ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They had just enough and edged the La Mirada Matadores out 3-2. Given the Lancers' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 245th, while the Matadores are ranked 628th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Norwalk is also on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 18 goals over those seven contests. As for La Mirada, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-11-2 record this season.

Norwalk will be playing in front of their home fans against Gahr at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Gahr sitting on six straight victories and Norwalk on four. As for La Mirada, they are taking a road trip to face off against Firebaugh at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. La Mirada is facing Firebaugh at the right time seeing as Firebaugh is stuck on a 13-game losing streak.
