Baseball Recap: Monrovia Comes Up Short

Monrovia managed to slip by Beech Grove the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Bulldogs lost 13-3 to the Hornets on Wednesday. The match marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Monrovia saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zach Oliphant, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Oliphant is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Jack Kluemper was another, going 2-for-3 with two doubles.

Monrovia's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 3-4. As for Beech Grove, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Monrovia will welcome Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs are facing the Raiders at the right time seeing as the Raiders are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Beech Grove, they will challenge Warren Central at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Hornets are on a four-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and the Warriors a three-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck.
