Softball Recap: Lawrence County Extends Home Winning Streak to Seven

Lawrence County lost to Hatton back in April of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Monday. Lawrence County came out on top against Hatton by a score of 5-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Red Devils.

McKinley McCaghren spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits. What's more, she gave up only one walk, the fewest she's had since back in March.

At the plate, Lawrence County let Bentlee Cross and LA Norwood run wild. Cross scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Norwood went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits Cross has posted since back in March.

Lawrence County's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.1 runs over those games. As for Hatton, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-14-1 record this season.

Lawrence County will challenge East Lawrence at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hatton, they will square off against Brooks at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
