Recap: Window Rock Fighting Scouts vs. Monument Valley Mustangs

There's no place like home for the Window Rock Fighting Scouts, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Saturday. They walked away with a 61-49 win over Monument Valley on Tuesday. That's another feather in the cap for Window Rock, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.

Window Rock had a senior duo take command as Jada Brown scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and Melicia Nelson almost dropped a triple-double on 11 points, 11 rebounds, and nine steals. Nelson is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayme Tso, who scored seven points along with five assists and three steals.

When it comes to explaining why Monument Valley lost, one person who can't be blamed is Corey Sandoval. Despite the final result, she scored 15 points. Latisha Mutte was another key contributor, scoring ten points.

Window Rock pushed their record up to 20-4 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.1 points per game. As for Monument Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 15-10.

Window Rock will head out on the road to take on Tuba City at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Tuba City is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 52 points per game this season. As for Monument Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against Chinle at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Chinle focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Wednesday.
