            Baseball Recap: Amherst Falcons vs. Columbus Catholic Dons        
        
		
        
        
            Amherst blew Columbus Catholic out of the water the last time the pair played, but  on Saturday Columbus Catholic got their revenge. The Falcons fell just short of the Dons by a score of  16-14. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest  loss the Falcons have suffered  since April 18, 2024.
  Ethan Peskie made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and  got on base  in three of his five plate appearances with two  runs, two  RBI,  and one  double. That  double was  his first of the season. Another player making a difference was  AJ O'Brien, who  went 1-for-4 with one  run and one  RBI.
Amherst's defeat dropped their record down to 15-8. As for Columbus Catholic, their win  ended  a  six-game drought at home  dating back to last season and  bumped them up to 6-7.
 Looking ahead, Amherst will head out on the road to  take on  Rosholt  at 3:00  p.m.  on Saturday. As for Columbus Catholic, they will venture away from home to  challenge Rib Lake  at 4:45  p.m.  on Monday. The Redmen's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8  runs per game  this season, so the Dons' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
