Basketball Recap: Lake Placid Comes Up Short

While it was all tied up 24-24 at halftime, Lake Placid was not quite Boquet Valley's equal in the second half on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Boquet Valley Griffins by a score of 56-54. The loss continues a trend for the Bombers in their matchups with the Griffins: they've now lost seven in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Lake Placid lost, don't look at Seb Cecunjanin. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double with 29 points and nine boards. Cecunjanin's evening made it 12 games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Caleb Wylie, who posted ten points and five rebounds.

Carson Leibeck continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Boquet Valley, going 14-for-29 en route to 37 points in addition to six steals and five boards. Boquet Valley is 8-2 when Leibeck posts 20 or more points, but 2-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Pettit, who put up 12 points and five assists.

Lake Placid's defeat dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Boquet Valley, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake Placid will square off against Chazy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Boquet Valley, they will face off against Ticonderoga at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Boquet Valley's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three contests.
