Softball Recap: Markesan Comes Up Short

Markesan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They came up short against the Columbus Cardinals, falling 11-4.

Ali Kirker and Lainy Jahns did some serious damage despite the final result: Kirker went 2-for-5 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Jahns went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Jahns has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Kaylee Heberer was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Markesan's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Columbus, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-6.

Markesan has already played their next matchup, a 10-1 win against Montello on the 28th. As for Columbus, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 6-5 defeat against Berlin on the 25th.
