Basketball Recap: Excel Comes Up Short

Excel was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 21st straight loss dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the Hillcrest Jaguars and fell 69-3. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 57-19 last Tuesday.

Hillcrest's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sky?La Mixon, who posted 12 points. Another player making a difference was Jayla Williams, who had 11 points.

Excel's record now sits at 0-12. As for Hillcrest, their win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-5.

Excel and Hillcrest could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings. Excel (ranked 417th) will meet Clarke County (ranked 114th) at 6:00 p.m. on December 27th. Meanwhile, Hillcrest (ranked 332nd) will meet Jackson (ranked 122nd) at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
