Baseball Game Preview: Shikellamy Braves vs. Danville Ironmen

The Shikellamy Braves will head out to face off against the Danville Ironmen at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.

Shikellamy lost 13-2 to North Schuylkill on Saturday. The Braves haven't had much luck with the Spartans recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Shikellamy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tristan Yarger, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.

Meanwhile, Danville entered their tilt with Selinsgrove on Friday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Seals. The result was nothing new for the Ironmen, who have now won five matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Cole Duffy made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those hits marked the first that he got this season.

In other batting news, Danville got a massive performance out of Lincoln Diehl, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs Diehl has posted since back in April of 2024. Wyatt Shultz was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Danville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in five consecutive games.

Danville's record is now 5-1. As for Shikellamy, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Shikellamy couldn't quite get it done against Danville when the teams last played back in May of 2023 as they fell 8-4. Can Shikellamy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
