Basketball Recap: Nicholas Sobek and Austin Ford Secure Win for Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory

There's no place like home for Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They strolled past the Lafayette Central Catholic Knights with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 55-36. The Braves have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Knights, too.

Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory was led to victory by Austin Ford and Nicholas Sobek. Ford went 6 of 8 en route to 13 points along with six rebounds and five assists, while Sobek went 7 of 10 en route to 15 points. What's more, Sobek also racked up four assists, the most he's had since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Christian Smith, who posted three points.

Lafayette Central Catholic's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bobby Metzger, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 10 points. Metzger continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Siemers, who had nine points.

Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Lafayette Central Catholic, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-2.

Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory will head out to face off against University at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Lafayette Central Catholic, they will host West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
