5A Region 8 Top Player Performances of the Week

Congratulations to this week's top players! We're covering the best performances from Friday's football action (using all statistics entered as of the time of writing). Enjoy!

Pierce Made His Presence Known in Boaz's 42-35 Victory

Things weren't looking good for Boaz heading into Friday's tilt with Guntersville(they were ranked 60 places lower in Alabama), but Tyler Pierce wasn't phased. Pierce turned in nothing short of a gem on Friday, throwing for 246 yards and four touchdowns, while also rushing for 70 yards and a touchdown. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in October of 2023.

Boaz and Arab are set to duel on Friday. The Pirates had to take a loss when they last met the Knights, but Pierce had little to do with the loss: he rushed for 46 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 192 yards on 14 of 25 attempts. Can he match (or beat) that performance?
