Recap: Wardlaw Hartridge Rams vs. Dunellen Destroyers
After a string of three wins, the Wardlaw Hartridge Rams's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 32-23 defeat to Dunellen. Wardlaw Hartridge has not had much luck with Dunellen recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Dunellen's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sophie Jimenez, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Wendy Woll, who scored nine points along with nine rebounds.
Wardlaw Hartridge's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Dunellen, their win bumped their record up to an identical 4-2.
Wardlaw Hartridge will be playing at home against South Amboy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. South Amboy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New Jersey Rankings (they are ranked 355th, while Wardlaw Hartridge is ranked 172nd). As for Dunellen, they will head out on the road to face off against Perth Amboy Vo-Tech at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Perth Amboy Vo-Tech's defense has only allowed 23.8 points per game this season, so Dunellen's offense will have their work cut out for Dunellen.
