Softball Recap: North Myrtle Beach Drops Highest Score of Season Against Socastee

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask North Myrtle Beach). Everything went their way against the Socastee Braves on Friday as North Myrtle Beach made off with an 18-4 win. The victory continues a trend for the Chiefs in their matchups with the Braves: they've now won five in a row.

Sierra Bendik spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Izzy Bruno was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kiera Olson, who got on base in four of her six plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one double.

Bruno wasn't the only one working in the hit department: North Myrtle Beach kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's a new trend for North Myrtle Beach: they were averaging 4.3 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 11.2.

North Myrtle Beach pushed their record up to 8-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Socastee, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.
