Basketball Game Preview: Varnum Whippets vs. Paden Pirates

Varnum has won four straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Paden has won four straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Tuesday. The Varnum Whippets will host the Paden Pirates at 6:30 p.m. One thing working in Varnum's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

Last Friday, everything came up roses for Varnum against Moss as the team secured a 74-33 win. The Whippets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 24 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Paden beat Mason 42-33 on Friday. Given the Pirates' advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 224th, while the Eagles are ranked 454th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Paden is also on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points per game. As for Varnum, their victory bumped their record up to 14-0.

Varnum strolled past Paden when the teams last played back in January of 2024 by a score of 74-58. Does Varnum have another victory up their sleeve, or will Paden turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
