Basketball Game Preview: Commerce Tigers vs. Mountain View Bears

The Commerce Tigers will face off against the Mountain View Bears at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Commerce has five straight victories, Mountain View has 16 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Commerce barely beat Stephens County the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Tigers simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat the Indians 65-22. Fans of the Tigers have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Commerce's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Niya Daniels, who almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine boards. Daniels has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenyanna Jackson, who posted 15 points.

Commerce smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Mountain View was beaten by Seckinger 85-21 on Thursday.

Commerce's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Mountain View, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Commerce took their win against Mountain View in their previous meeting back in December of 2024 by a conclusive 50-30 score. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bears turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
