Softball Recap: Northside Comes Up Short

Northside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Maine East Blue Demons. The Mustangs were not able to make up for their defeat to the Blue Demons from their previous meeting back in April of 2023.

Northside saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jilliyn Yung, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Northside's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Maine East, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Northside will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Payton College Prep at 4:30 p.m. on April 2. The match will give Northside their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Maine East, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 16-2 win against Waukegan on the 22nd.
