Basketball Game Preview: Perry Bluejays vs. Roland-Story Norsemen

The Perry Bluejays will challenge the Roland-Story Norsemen at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing isn't great for Perry: they have been struggling with six straight losses at home, while Roland-Story has snatched up four consecutive wins on the road.

Perry is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against West Marshall on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Perry came up short against West Marshall, falling 60-35. The Bluejays were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-15.

Despite the defeat, Perry had strong showings from Karagyn Whelchel, who went 7 for 14 en route to 17 points, and Lily Myers, who posted eight points in addition to 12 boards and three steals. Myers is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 18 games she's played dating back to last season. Litzy Ramirez was another key player, putting up eight points and six boards.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Roland-Story against Nevada on Tuesday as the team secured a 57-24 win. The Norsemen have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 30 points or more this season.

Perry's loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Roland-Story, their victory bumped their record up to 13-2.

Perry was dealt a bruising 74-24 defeat at the hands of Roland-Story when the teams last played back in December of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Perry was down 41-16.
