Basketball Recap: Gaston Day Now 8-2 over Last Ten Games

Gaston Day won the last time they faced Hickory Grove Christian and things went their way on Friday too. The Gaston Day Spartans secured a 67-63 W over the Hickory Grove Christian Lions. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Spartans.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Gaston Day to victory, but perhaps none more so than Griffen Simpson, who posted 15 points and three steals. That's the most steals Simpson has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Deshawn Coulter, who earned 15 points.

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Micah Bradley, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 boards. Kevin Powell was another key player, going 6 for 11 on his way to 16 points and six rebounds.

Gaston Day is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. As for Hickory Grove Christian, they now have a losing record at 9-10.

Gaston Day will be playing at home against Concord Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gaston Day is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 68 points per game this season.
