Softball Game Preview: Poplar Springs Atomics vs. Geneva County Bulldogs

The Poplar Springs Atomics will challenge the Geneva County Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Poplar Springs has now lost 11 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 6.

Poplar Springs lost 20-6 to Rutherford on Friday.

Natalee Smith and Marissa Bollon did some serious damage despite the final result: Smith scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2, while Bollon scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Duffell, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.

Meanwhile, Geneva County came up short against Ariton on Wednesday, falling 14-4. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Geneva County saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addie Mae Habbard, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

Poplar Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Geneva County, their loss dropped their record down to 12-9.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Poplar Springs has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Geneva County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
