Laney won the last time they faced Dixon and things went their way on Wednesday too. Everything went the Laney Buccaneers' way against the Dixon Bulldogs as the Laney Buccaneers made off with a 13-2 win. Considering the Buccaneers have won six games by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Brileigh Mathews spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Layla Carr and Isabella Stevens did most of the damage at the plate: Carr scored three runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Stevens scored a run while going 3-for-3. With that strong performance, Carr is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Carly Krueger, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

Laney always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dixon only posted an OBP of .381.

Laney has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 13.2 runs. Dixon's defeat ended a 16-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Laney will face off against Hoggard at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Hoggard 2.8, Laney 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Dixon, they will take on West Carteret at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The last four games West Carteret has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
