Baseball Recap: Riverside Takes a Loss

Riverside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 8-4 to the Covington Buccs. That's two games in a row now that the Pirates have lost by exactly four runs.

Cooper Crouch was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2. He is becoming a predictor of Riverside's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 2-6 when he doesn't). Gavin Orsborne was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Riverside's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Covington, their victory bumped their record up to 2-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Riverside will welcome Troy Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Pirates' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Covington, they will be playing at home against Miami East at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
