Basketball Recap: Bellevue East Beats Papillion-Lavista South for Their Seventh Straight Victory

Bellevue East had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Saturday. They breezed past the Papillion-LaVista South Titans to the tune of 70-42. The Chieftains pushed the score to 53-30 by the end of the third, a deficit the Titans had little chance of recovering from.

Bellevue East was led to victory by TNiyah Wilson-Smith and Brani Jackson. Wilson-Smith dropped a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds, while Jackson went 6-for-11 on her way to 15 points and seven steals. Wilson-Smith's afternoon made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Zoey Howard, who posted nine points and five boards.

Despite the loss, Papillion-LaVista South had strong showings from Addison Medeck, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and ten rebounds, and Ella Morehouse, who earned 13 points.

Bellevue East pushed their record up to 16-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 27 points. As for Papillion-LaVista South, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.

Bellevue East didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 88-78 victory against Omaha Central on the 11th. As for Papillion-LaVista South, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 53-49 defeat against Lincoln High on the 11th.
