Baseball Recap: Dixie Takes Down Ranked Desert Hills

Dixie faced Desert Hills in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Flyers never let the Thunder get on the board and left with an 11-0 win. The contest marked the Flyers' most dominant victory of the season.

Jake Andreas made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Weston Gilmore, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Max Larkin, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Dixie was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive games.

Dixie's record is now 9-7. As for Desert Hills, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 14-1.

Dixie will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Thunder: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
