Baseball Recap: Hilbert Wolves vs. Reedsville Panthers

Hilbert extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 5-10 in the process. They lost 11-5 to the Reedsville Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-2 on Monday.

Hilbert saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Max Schneider, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

As for Reedsville, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Considering they have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

On Reedsville's side, Logan Maertz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits. Maertz was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Reedsville got a big performance out of Nathan Christensen, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Coming up, Hilbert will venture away from home to take on Gillett at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Reedsville, they have already played their next contest, an 8-5 loss against Little Chute on the 9th.
