Basketball Recap: St. Mary Comes Up Short

St. Mary easily dispatched Howard last Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The St. Mary Cardinals fell just short of the Colman-Egan C-E Hawks by a score of 47-44 on Thursday. The Cardinals were not able to make up for their loss to the C-E Hawks from their previous meeting back in December of 2023.

Colman-Egan got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Brynlee Landis out in front who went 5 for 6 on her way to 16 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Landis has scored at least a third of Colman-Egan's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Presley Luze, who posted nine points and four steals.

St. Mary's defeat dropped their record down to 2-1. As for Colman-Egan, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

St. Mary didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 49-35 win against Flandreau on the 21st. As for Colman-Egan, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 59-43 loss against Hamlin on the 21st.
