Basketball Recap: Nick Haviland and Tanner Strathe Secure Win for Erie

The Erie Red Devils didn't have too much breathing room in their game against the Central Heights Vikings on Tuesday, but they still walked away with a 56-52 win.

Erie was led to victory by Tanner Strathe and Nick Haviland. Strathe posted 14 points along with seven assists and six rebounds, while Haviland shot 43% from the field to rack up 17 points in addition to six steals and five boards. The last time Haviland's field goal percentage was this high was back in December of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Quincy Brown, who went 5-for-10 en route to 11 points and seven rebounds.

Erie smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in eight consecutive matchups.

Erie has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.8 points over those games. As for Central Heights, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-12.

Looking ahead, Erie will face off against Liberty HomeSchool Alliance at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Central Heights, they will square off against Northern Heights at 7:20 p.m. on Friday.
