Burroughs is 8-2 against Serrano since March of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Burros will take on the Diamondbacks at 3:15 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Burroughs has five straight wins, Serrano has nine straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Burroughs will bounce into Wednesday's game after beating Apple Valley, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Burros had just enough and edged out the Sun Devils 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Burros have posted since March 18th.

Burroughs' win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Steve Lormand, who went 1-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Serrano fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Oak Hills on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 7-6.

Kelvam Lopez was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Serrano's defeat dropped their record down to 6-13. As for Burroughs, their victory bumped their record up to 18-4.

Serrano's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Burroughs has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.6 hits per game. It's a different story for Serrano, though, as they've been averaging 9.4 hits. Given Burroughs' sizable advantage in that area, the Diamondbacks will need to find a way to close that gap.

Burroughs beat Serrano 10-6 in their previous meeting back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Burros since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
