Baseball Recap: Wyalusing Valley Comes Up Short

Wyalusing Valley had lost 12 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped down to 3-16 to make it 13. They came up short against the Tunkhannock Tigers, falling 13-3. The Rams were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2025.

As for Tunkhannock, their record is now 2-15. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Tunkhannock's part, Shea Harvey was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over 5.2 innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave Harvey a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs.

In other batting news, Tunkhannock got a massive performance out of Paul Poepperling, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with six stolen bases and three runs. Those three runs gave Poepperling a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gunner Faux, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Wyalusing Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Tunkhannock, they will challenge Lakeland at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Chiefs' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Tigers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
