Baseball Game Preview: Greene Central Rams vs. South Central Falcons

The Greene Central Rams will take on the South Central Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Greene Central 4.1, South Central 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.

While Greene Central's win against Roanoke Rapids wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Rams narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Yellowjackets 6-5. Winning may never get old, but the Rams sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Elijah Monroe was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Easton Creech was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Greene Central hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Roanoke Rapids struck out eight times.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 15 runs the game before, South Central was a bit more limited in their match on Tuesday. They fell just short of J.H. Rose by a score of 4-2. The defeat continues a trend for the Falcons in their meetings with the Rampants: they've now lost six in a row.

Greene Central's win bumped their record up to 13-7. As for South Central, their loss dropped their record down to 15-7.

Greene Central skirted past South Central 4-3 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Do the Rams have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
