Preview: Northfield Norsemen vs. Maconaquah Braves

Northfield is 2-7 against Maconaquah since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Northfield Norsemen are on the road again and plays the Maconaquah Braves at 7:30 p.m. on February 13th. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Last Friday, Northfield came up short against Bluffton and fell 45-38.

Despite their defeat, Northfield saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jaden Baer, who scored 16 points, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was carter rodgers, who scored 14 points.

Meanwhile, Maconaquah pushed their score all the way to 67 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 77-67 hit to the loss column at the hands of Southwood. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Maconaquah came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 81st, while Southwood is ranked 339th).

Northfield has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season. As for Maconaquah, their loss dropped their record down to 12-5.

Northfield was dealt a bruising 85-51 loss at the hands of Maconaquah when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Thankfully for Northfield, Bauer Maple (who scored 29 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
