Living Word Lutheran hasn't had much luck against Lake Country Lutheran recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Timberwolves will head out to take on the Lightning at 4:30 p.m. Living Word Lutheran is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
Living Word Lutheran's hitters will try to repeat the strong performance they gave on Monday, when they got past Johnson Creek's usually-dominant pitching crew. The Timberwolves walked away with a 12-8 victory over the Bluejays. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Timberwolves.
Easton Oliver made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Gavin LaPerriere was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Gavin Weissenburger, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Lake Country Lutheran, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They blew past Brookfield Academy 12-1 on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Lightning in their matchups with the Blue Knights: they've now won five in a row.
The team relied heavily on Jack Poellot, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That triple was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabe Snyder, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Lake Country Lutheran was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .450. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brookfield Academy only posted a batting average of .167.
Lake Country Lutheran's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Living Word Lutheran, their record is now 8-5.
Both Living Word Lutheran and Lake Country Lutheran just can't seem to miss. The Timberwolves have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.2 hits per game. However, it's not like Lake Country Lutheran struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.7 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Living Word Lutheran might still be hurting after the 8-0 defeat they got from Lake Country Lutheran when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Timberwolves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
