After a string of six wins, Eastern's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Alexander Spartans. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 3-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Despite the loss, Eastern saw an underclassman step up: freshman Emeri Lloyd had 17 digs and four aces. Those four aces set a new season-high mark for Lloyd.

Eastern's defeat dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Alexander, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2.

Looking ahead, Eastern will welcome Southern at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Alexander, they have already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Trimble on the 9th.
