Baseball Recap: Rogers Comes Up Short

Rogers was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against the East Greenwich Avengers, falling 19-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Vikings have suffered since April 9th.

Ben Borgueta and Cole Marley did some serious damage despite the final result: Borgueta went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Marley went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Rogers is 3-1 when Borgueta posts two or more runs, but 1-8 otherwise. Cole Milburn was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Rogers' loss dropped their record down to 4-9. As for East Greenwich, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Rogers is set to square off against their familiar foe Johnston at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, East Greenwich will face off against rival Chariho at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Avengers are on a three-game streak of home wins, the Chargers a three-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind.
