Recap: Buford Wolves vs. Collins Hill Eagles

The Buford Wolves entered their tilt with the Collins Hill Eagles with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Buford took down Collins Hill 62-48 on Friday. Given Buford's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while Collins Hill is ranked 127th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

When it comes to explaining why Collins Hill lost, one person who can't be blamed is Paris Fillingame. Despite the final result, she scored 22 points along with five steals and two blocks. Fillingame hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Imari Brewer was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with eight rebounds.

Buford pushed their record up to 21-2 with that victory, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Collins Hill, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-13 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Buford won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Holy Innocents Episcopal at 3:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Buford knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 22 matchups -- so hopefully Holy Innocents Episcopal likes a good challenge. As for Collins Hill, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Mill Creek at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Collins Hill focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Friday.
