Preview: Jurupa Hills Spartans vs. Soquel Knights

Jurupa Hills has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Soquel Knights at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

With a playoff game on the line, Jurupa Hills rose to the challenge on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Toros 41-14 at home. Jurupa Hills pushed the score to 34-6 by the end of the third, a deficit Torres cut but never quite recovered from.

Jurupa Hills can attribute much of their success to Jordan Pernillo, who rushed for 145 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries. Caleb Ruiz was another key contributor, throwing for 94 yards and three touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Soquel entered their tilt with Casa Roble with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. Soquel really took it to Casa Roble for the full four quarters, racking up a 42-14 victory at home. Considering Soquel has won six matches by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Soquel to victory, but perhaps none more so than Justice Grauel tebong, who rushed for 81 yards and three touchdowns on only five carries. Grauel tebong was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 64 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyreis Lundy, who rushed for 127 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.9 yards per carry.

Jurupa Hills' victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-6. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 30.3 points per game. As for Soquel, their victory bumped their record up to 12-2.
