Basketball Recap: Elkhorn South Takes a Loss

It was a classic North v. South duel when Elkhorn South duked it out withMillard North on Tuesday. The Elkhorn South Storm took a 66-48 bruising from the Millard North Mustangs. The Storm haven't had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.

Despite the defeat, Elkhorn South saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Mollie Probasco went 7 of 11 on her way to 21 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexa Eddie, who posted six points.

Millard North's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Avril Smith, who went 5 of 9 on her way to 14 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Another player making a difference was Brylee Nelsen, who went 5 of 8 on her way to 15 points.

Elkhorn South's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Millard North, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1.

Elkhorn South wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 60-41 defeat against Marian on the 12th. As for Millard North, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 57-35 win against Papillion-LaVista South on the 17th.
