Softball Recap: Union Pines Takes a Loss

After flying high against Lee County last Tuesday, Union Pines came back down to earth. The Union Pines Vikings fell just short of the Apex Cougars by a score of 6-4 on Thursday. The match marked the Vikings' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Haven Patterson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple. That triple marked the first that she hit this season. Kileigh Cameron was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Union Pines' loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Apex, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Union Pines will host Scotland at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Apex, they will be playing at home against New Bern at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. New Bern will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Apex surely won't give up without a fight.
