Football Recap: Florida State University High School Takes a Loss

Florida State University High School lost against Thomas County Central back in August of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Seminoles had to suffer through a 79-14 loss at the hands of the Yellow Jackets. While losing is never fun, the Seminoles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 44th in Florida, while the Yellow Jackets are ranked tenth in Georgia).

Christian Lawrence had an outrageously good game for Thomas County Central as he rushed for 148 yards and two TDs, and also picked up 55 receiving yards and one score. Lawrence's longest rush was for an incredible 73 yards. Another player making a difference was Jaylen Johnson, who threw for 187 yards and five touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes.

Having lost for the first time this season, Florida State University High School fell to 2-1. As for Thomas County Central, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.

Coming up, Florida State University High School will head out to square off against Hawthorne at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Thomas County Central, they will welcome Thomasville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
