Football Recap: Florida State University High School Takes a Loss

Florida State University High School came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They had to suffer through a 79-14 loss at the hands of the Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets. The Seminoles lost against the Yellow Jackets in their previous head to head back in August of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 63-28 score last time.

Florida State University High School lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jayme Miller, who threw for 254 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 12.7 yards per attempt. Keenen Jeune was Miller's top target, picking up 130 receiving yards and one score.

Christian Lawrence had a dynamite game For Thomas County Central., rushing for 148 yards and a pair of TDs, while also picking up 55 receiving yards and one touchdown. Lawrence's longest rush was for an incredible 73 yards. Another player making a difference was Jaylen Johnson, who threw for 187 yards and five TDs while completing 83.3% of his passes.

Having lost for the first time this season, Florida State University High School fell to 2-1. As for Thomas County Central, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Coming up, Florida State University High School will venture away from home to challenge Hawthorne at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Thomas County Central, they will host Thomasville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
