Softball Recap: Northwest Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

Northwest's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the East Aces as they made off with an 11-1 victory. The Grizzlies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by eight runs or more this season.

Lilly Hoffman made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 13 over six innings pitched. Hoffman was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Kam Stubbs was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two doubles. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emma Leidy, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Northwest's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-9. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for East, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Northwest beat the Aces by a score of 12-0 later that day.
