Desert Hills took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Thursday. They blew past the Park City Miners 16-9. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Thunder also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2024.
Andrew Wiley looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.
On the hitting side, Desert Hills got a massive performance out of Andrew Wilson, who fired off two home runs and six RBI while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits Wilson has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Haigen Reed, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Desert Hills always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .590. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Park City only posted an OBP of .343.
Park City's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 1-1.
Coming up, Desert Hills will be playing in front of their home fans against Green Canyon at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Park City, they will venture away from home to square off against Foothill at 1:30 p.m. on Friday.
