Soccer Game Preview: St. Joseph's Catholic vs. Palmetto

The St. Joseph's Catholic Knights will challenge the Palmetto Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Joseph's Catholic's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for four straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

The home team had won the previous six meetings between St. Joseph's Catholic and Christ Church Episcopal, and St. Joseph's Catholic kept the tradition alive. The Knights never let the Cavaliers get on the board and left with a 1-0 win on Wednesday. The final result isn't all the surprising considering St. Joseph's Catholic's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 19th, while Christ Church Episcopal are ranked 71st).

St. Joseph's Catholic's one-goal win came courtesy of Martin Simon, who's now up to three this season.

Meanwhile, Palmetto came up short against Walhalla on Thursday and fell 4-2.

Palmetto has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for St. Joseph's Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 9-2.

St. Joseph's Catholic took their win against Palmetto in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 4-0 score. Do the Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mustangs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
