Baseball Recap: South Fork Finds Home Field Redemption Against Central

There's no place like home for South Fork, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They came out on top against the Central Cobras by a score of 4-1 on Friday. That's more bragging rights for the Bulldogs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Austin Sonnenberg looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because South Fork is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-5 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Eli Smith was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-4. Jack Demaris also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

South Fork hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Central struck out eight times.

South Fork's victory bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Central, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Fork will head out to face off against Tradition Prep at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. South Fork's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Tradition Prep's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Central, they are taking a road trip to take on Satellite at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
